Playaways

Thanks to a generous donation from The New Hartford Lions   Club, we now have a small, but growing collection of Playaways.

A Playaway is the self-contained audio equivalent of a book.  It is not an MP3 player, a CD player, or download.  Half the size of a deck of cards and using clearly marked buttons, a Playaway gives listeners the option of placing digital bookmarks and controlling the speed of a narrator’s voice, all while easily moving both forward and back through audiobook selections that can range from six to twenty-four hours.

Additionally, a Playaway has a universal headphone jack that works with almost any type of headphone or mobility accessory. If you don’t have your own set, you can purchase a set of earbuds at the Circulation Desk for $1.00 and then you can use them any time you check out a Playaway. The Playaway also comes with an AAA battery installed (and an extra one should you need it,) which should allow you to listen to the entire book.

When you wish to check out a Playaway, just bring the case of the book you want to the Circulation Desk and a Librarian will give you the Playaway to put in the case.  You may borrow a Playaway for three weeks.
